Message I did a little bit of research and got a little confused, so wanted to directly ask the experts on here.

So now on my 2nd build of the same F(#$ing motor .. (no...not annoyed at all) , its finally done and put in the car, then no compression...okay got that fixed....then don't know how it happened but I get a call from my mechanic saying, "your lifters are bad. 2 of them were stuck with the valves wide open. You need new OEM lifters."

Great, so I go online and find some on eBay for like $300. Ugh...fine. ABOUT to buy them, and the realize they arent OEM. Who knows what brand they are. So I go to Nissan, $700 give or take! :puts gun in mouth:

So I read some posts here about rebuilding lifters and soaking them in oil or wd-40 or Robitussin or whatever. Tell the mechanic about it, of course he disagrees with anything the forum says. "I dont like forums" ... yeah well....GFY. And, basically if I don't do it his way, the warranty on the engine is moot.

Anyway, sorry for my ranting ...

Question is, what is the difference in OEM v eBay in regards to lifters? I know some parts need to be bought from OEM or reliable sources, and some are the same. Such that there is a difference in a Greddy Turbo, and an eBay turbo due to mechanical parts and blah. So, I dont want to save $400 and blow my engine in a week.

And, what's this about rebuilding lifters? How safe is it for a rebuild looking at 500-600 hp?

Was thinking of going with solid lifters but that requires Tomei cams and thats like a million dollars and I am no good at winning the lottery.....so....yeah.

Any help would be appreciated before I blow my brains out, drop the car in the ocean, or blow up my friends shop. Yeah, my mechanic is my friend, and if he wasn't an ex MMA fighter, I'd kick him in the throat. =\

Thanks in advance!

::takes gun out of mouth...throws up peace sign::
